In Science we are doing a unit on Terrariums and we had to build our own.
We did it by taking a plastic box and putting in soil on the bottom. Then we
flattened it out with our hands. After that we picked seeds to plant in our
Terrarium and we picked how many of the plants we wanted to plant in our
Terrarium. Me and my partner planted 2 Radish seeds, 2 Pea seeds, 2 Corn
seeds, 1 Clover seed, and 1 Barley seed. Then we watered them and put saran
wrap on the top of the Terrarium. Then we waited for the seeds to grow.
My Pea seeds grew so much more then any of the other seeds me and my
partner planted. The Radish seed hasn't even grown yet and the clover seed only
grew a little.
We planted our seeds by putting 4 of them in the front and 4 of them in the back.
When we planted our seeds we used our fingers to dig little holes in the soil but not all
the way down. Then we covered them back up with the soil and then watered them.
We also made runways and me and my partner tested with Isopod bugs and put wet
soil on one side, grass in the middle, and dry soil on the other side. We observed that the
Isopods like the wet soil better then the grass or the dry soil. After that we dumped the runway in our Terrariums and the Isopods went in too. When we put them in 1 of our 2 bugs died and
one is still alive right now.
I really like the Terrarium unit so far and I hope it will continue to be just as fun!!!
